Gara Rock, East Portlemouth
This iconic, high-quality new-build development for Aminghurst consisted of five cottages, 12 apartments, a leisure pool and spa, boutique hotel and restaurant.
This £12m-valued project was over half way into its programme when the funders decided to take control of the project and deliver it with the expertise of a construction manager. This followed a three-month period in which a feasibility review of the project was undertaken on behalf of the funders and principal shareholder.
Prior to a construction management delivery, the project had been inundated with issues and a victim of the recession, together with problematic early development decisions.
The funders and principle shareholders decision to deliver Gara Rock under a construction management route was a success; completing the project in June 2013 within programme and budget.
